Dave and Artie Pemberton

My dad was extremely fond of the Pembertons.  His dad (Ira Brown)’s sister, Artie Belle Brown,  married Dave Pemberton, and they had four children:

1. Johnnie May Pemberton who married Roy Franklin Lester (see her page)
2. Ira Glenn Pemberton who married Emma Jean Price
3. Sarah Melissa Pemberton who died young
4. Amos Ray Pemberton who married Hazel Jean Bingham

Glenn was married to Jean, who was very much like my dad’s sister, Betty Jean in my opinion.  Dad always seemed to especially like her.  She had tuberculosis and was hospitalized at one time and Glenn had an affair with her sister which resulted in Jean’s sister having Harold Turner.  I met him on a couple of occasions.  Jean's sister died fairly young and Glenn and Jean raised Harold.  My Aunt Peggy saw him recently at a reunion and he said, "I bet you don't remember who I am" and she said, "Yes I do. You are Harold Turner!"  Glenn worked for the Arkansas Highway Department and was a deck hand on the Lake Norfork Ferry Boat.

I don’t know anything about Sarah Melissa except that she died when she was 17.
