Nathaniel Barrye Hobbs was a proprietor of a mercantile establishment in Dorchester, England. He had six sons and three daughters. Three sons came to America in 1735: Beal, William & Vincent. Beal resided in Maryland and then Pennsylvania. William resided in North Carolina. Vincent resided in Maryland, Virginia, and then North Carolina. They are believed to have sailed from Cardiganshire, Wales.
There was also a John Hobbs. It is not known if this was another brother or uncle or what relationship he was to the Hobbs brothers. The brothers settled on land bordered by land owned by this John Hobbs.
